Norges Bank Research Workshop: Women in Central Banking
Oslo, Friday 10 November 2023
The aim of this one-day workshop is to provide a platform for young female PhD students working in topics relevant for central banks to present and receive feedback on their work. The workshop will foster interaction between presenters, conference attendants and senior economists working in central banks, providing ample opportunity for discussions and networking.
The governor of Norges Bank, Ida Wolden Bache, will provide the opening remarks. The workshop will include a panel discussion on the challenges and opportunities for women pursuing a research career in central banking. Natalya Martynova (Bundesbank), Caterina Mendicino (ECB) and Nitzan Tzur-Ilan (Dallas FED) will act as panelists, and the discussion will be moderated by Marieke Bos (SSE and VU Amsterdam).
We encourage female PhD students in all stages of their PhD studies to submit their work. All submissions in areas of economics and finance, such as macroeconomics, monetary economics, labor economics, international economics, international finance, financial intermediation, finance, econometrics, big data and other topics of interest for central banks in a broad sense are welcome. We will cover travel and accommodation costs for selected presenters. Selected papers will be assigned a discussant.
We will also offer the possibility for a limited number of PhD students to attend the workshop to build up their academic network, irrespective of whether they submit a paper or have a paper on the program.
Students who do not submit a paper but are interested in attending the workshop should write a small motivation (maximum 10 lines) to email@example.com by 6pm CET Friday, September 15, 2023 indicating the expected date of completion of the PhD and their fields of specialization.
