Minting of Norwegian coins at Mint of Norway will continue
The agreement between Norges Bank and Mint of Norway for the minting of Norwegian coins expired at the turn of the year. Norges Bank conducted a competitive tender in spring 2014 for the supply of coinage as from 2015.
The competition was announced internationally, in line with the Public Procurement Act, and tenders were submitted by a total of three mints. The tenders were assessed on the basis of price and functionality, weighted 80 and 20 percent respectively. Based on these criteria, the tender submitted by the Mint of Norway was assessed to be the winning tender. Norges Bank signed a framework agreement with the Mint of Norway in August 2014 for the supply of Norwegian coins for a further four years as from 2015.
