Deputy Governor Egil Matsen stepping down

Deputy Governor Egil Matsen has notified the Ministry of Finance of his wish to step down before the end of his term of office.

“I have had a very interesting job, and it has been a privilege to work alongside so many capable colleagues to perform a vital public mission. I have now decided that I would prefer to spend more of my time with my family in Trondheim. In consultation with them I have therefore decided to step down,” says Matsen.

“I respect Egil Matsen’s decision, but I am sorry that he will not be continuing at Norges Bank. Egil Matsen is a great professional asset and an invaluable colleague that we would have liked to have kept on board,” says Governor Øystein Olsen.

Egil Matsen was appointed in November 2015 to the newly created post of Second Deputy Governor with special responsibility for the Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) for a six-year term. The date of Matsen’s departure will be agreed with the Ministry of Finance.
