Commemorative coin issue in 2017
The year 2017 will be the centenary of the first international Sami conference, which was held in Trondheim. To commemorate this event, Norges Bank has decided to issue a special edition 20-krone circulation coin.
The Sámi woman Elsa Laula Renberg organised the first international Sami conference in Norway. The conference, which was held at the Methodist Church in Trondheim on 6-9 February, is a historical event and an important milestone for the Sami people. This event is also the reason 6 February is celebrated as Sami National Day.
The date on which the coin will be issued will be determined at a later time.
