Change in routines in Norges Bank's Executive Board
The Executive Board of Norges Bank has revised its routines for considering monetary policy. The Executive Board is now planning to engage in an extensive discussion of monetary policy once a month.
Any decision on interest rate changes or in the use of monetary policy instruments will normally be taken at these meetings. The Executive Board has also decided to change the time of these meetings from 1 pm to 11 am. Any decision to change interest rates will be announced the same day at 2 pm.
The Executive Board of Norges Bank will discuss the implementation of monetary policy on the following dates in 1999:
21 July, 25 August, 22 September, 27 October, 24 November and 22 December.
The dates for meetings to be held in 2000 will be announced in the fourth quarter of 1999.
Norges Bank publishes an Inflation Report each quarter. The projections for the Norwegian economy in these reports are an important basis for the Bank's conduct of monetary policy. Norges Bank's Inflation Report will be published on the following dates in 1999:
23 June, 16 September and 16 December.
