NOK turnover largely unchanged in 2025
The triennial BIS survey on turnover in the foreign exchange and interest rate derivatives markets is considered a key source for mapping activity in the bilateral (OTC) market. The survey was conducted in April this year and shows that the daily global turnover in Norwegian kroner was around 127 billion US dollars. This is roughly the same as in 2022. In the global foreign exchange market, the trend of increasing turnover has continued. See further analysis from BIS (Bank for International Settlements)
Norwegian kroner are mainly traded against the US dollar and the euro, and most of the turnover takes place abroad among financial institutions. In the market for interest rate derivatives in kroner, there was an increase of nearly 30 percent compared to 2022. The turnover of overnight indexed swaps contracts continued to rise compared to the previous report.
