The operating schedule for Norges Bank’s settlement system (NBO) was most recently changed with effect from 17 March 2025. The operating schedule will be updated with the following changes from 31 August 2025:

• In connection with an update of the operating schedule to take into account that gross payments are sent directly to NBO, a clarification has been added to the operating schedule for each clearing from NICS Operations in the event that one or more banks have insufficient funds.
• NBO participants have started submitting all their gross payments directly to NBO. The last bank to start submitting its gross payments to NBO will do so in August 2025. From 31 August, the operating schedule will include a footnote to provide for any need to extend NBO opening hours due to significant operating problems:

If a need arises for extended NBO opening hours as a result of a participant experiencing significant operational issues, Norges Bank must be contacted no later than 15:45. The participant’s transactions must total a substantial amount, either in individual transactions or in aggregate volume.

In accordance with the Terms and conditions for account management at Norges Bank, Norges Bank may change the Terms and Conditions or the supplementary provisions, including the operating schedule for NBO, normally with one month’s notice. Norges Bank announces changes by circular.
