Information about the pension scheme
Membership
Employees who are members of the Norwegian National Insurance Scheme are enrolled in Norges Bank's Pension Fund from the date of employment.
An employee who leaves the bank or takes unpaid leave for more than three years will cease to be a member of the pension fund.
Pensionable membership period
The pensionable membership period corresponds to the service period with membership in the pension fund.
Pensionable income / pension base
Pensionable income is calculated based on the employee's fixed annual salary and pensionable supplements. Pensionable income is limited to 12 times the National Insurance basic amount (G). Overtime is not pensionable income.
Age limit
The age limit is 72 years.
A special age limit of 65 years applies to inspectors/chief inspectors on shift arrangements.
Pension contributions
The employee pays two percent of pensionable income as a pension contribution deducted from salary.
During parental leave, normal pension contributions are paid for the entire period of leave.
During unpaid leave, the employee retains two percent of salary to cover pension contributions for up to three years.
Deferred pension
A member that resigns from his or her position after having accrued at least one year of total pensionable membership upon resignation, is entitled to a deferred pension. Funds related to the deferred pension cannot be transferred to another pension institution.
The deferred pension is regulated in accordance with changes in the National Insurance basic amount (Adjustment of G).
Annual information
The employee receives an annual pension statement from the pension fund providing information about the individual's pension accrual.
