Disability pension
Disability pension is granted when an employee must fully or partially leave their position due to illness or injury.
In the case of full disability, the disability pension is calculated as the sum of:
a) 25 percent of G (limited to 6 percent of the pension base)
b) 3 percent of the pension base up to 6 G
c) 69 percent of the pension base between 6 and 12 G
Disability pension is calculated for the number of years of service the member could have achieved by working in the position until the retirement age, but not beyond age 67. Disability pension is adjusted for degree of disability. Disability pension is not granted for a degree of disability below 20 percent.
Disability pension from the pension fund is paid in addition to disability benefit or work assessment allowance from the National Insurance Scheme. A condition for granting disability pension above 50 percent degree of disability is that a claim for benefits from the National Insurance Scheme has been submitted.
Disability pension and income
Upon granting of disability pension, an income limit is set. Each year the pension fund performs a review when the tax settlement is ready. The purpose is to check whether you have received the correct amount of disability pension in relation to the income limit during the preceding year. The annual settlement is objective — if you have been overpaid, repayment will be required; if you have been underpaid, you will receive an additional payment.
If you receive disability benefit from the National Insurance Scheme, you may earn up to 0.4 G without reduction in your pension
