How to exchange withdrawn banknotes and coins

You may deliver the completed form, banknotes/coins and valid ID by visiting one of our depots in person or send them by post. In order to comply with infection control measures, we kindly ask you to have the form completed on arrival if you wish to submit over the counter.

Electronic ID

To exchange banknotes or coins by post, you may confirm your identity beforehand via Norges Bank's electronic ID verification system if you are a registered BankID user. Norges Bank will check the name and account number on the submitted form against the electronic ID verification.

12 Aug 2022: Some have experienced that the BankID solution has been unstable lately. If you experience any problems, take a copy of your identification and write on the form that the BankID solution did not work.
