Norges Bank Pension Fund

About the Pension Fund

The objective of the Pension Fund is to provide efficient and high-quality service to members, pensioners, and employers, as well as to ensure sound and effective management of the Pension Fund’s assets.

The Pension Fund was established by Norges Bank in 1916 with the purpose of providing pensions to its members and their surviving dependents. The Pension Fund is an independent legal entity governed by a board appointed by Norges Bank’s Executive Board and employee organizations.

About the Board

The Pension Fund is governed by its own Board of six members, along with deputy members. Four board members and two deputy members are appointed by Norges Bank’s Executive Board, of which at least one board member must have no affiliation with the Pension Fund, the Bank, or affiliated entities. Two board members, along with their deputies, are appointed by employee organizations.

The Board elects its own Chair from among its members. Board members are normally appointed for a term of three years.
