Norges Bank

Governor Øystein Olsen commenting on the white paper on a new central bank act

Today, the Government presented a white paper on a new central bank act. The white paper addresses how Norges Bank and management of the Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) should be organised and governed.

"I am pleased that the Government has now presented a white paper on a new central bank act. This is an important step forward in clarifying key questions regarding the Bank's mandate, tasks and organisation", says Governor Øystein Olsen.

"The Government proposes that the management of the GPFG remain within Norges Bank and proposes the creation of an expert committee to enhance the central bank's work on monetary policy and on financial stability. This is an organisational structure the Bank was open to in its consultation response. I have previously pointed out that Norges Bank is well equipped to continue its mission in both areas," says the Governor.
