Obverse (heads side):

The royal crown. The crossed-pick-and-hammer mintmark of the Royal Norwegian Mint (now Mint of Norway) and the initials of the director of the mint appear below the motif.

As from the issue year 2007, the initials of the director of the mint are no longer included. As from the same date, the mintmark is placed centred below the royal crown.

Reverse (tails side):

Mythical animal from the portal of the Urnes Stave Church. The denomination 50 ØRE, NOREG and the year of issue appear to the right of the motif. Between the motif and legend is the signature of the artist, GJL (Grazyna Jolanta Lindau)
