Financial markets

‘Financial markets’ is a collective designation for all markets for financial assets. Participants are financial institutions, households, firms, the public sector and the foreign sector. Financial market volatility can threaten financial stability and spread financial turbulence across countries.

Norges Bank constantly monitors developments in Norwegian and international financial markets and evaluates any danger signals of financial instability.

There are different markets for financial products. Parties can meet (physically, electronically or by telephone) to conclude financial contracts or they can trade in organised markets for financial instruments.
